- Polaris Pb4-60 Booster Pump Operation and Installation Manual|
Easy to install, good directions. Corrected my pump leak.
The seal kit for the new style PB4-60 pump works as it should. Removing the old seals takes a little patience to pop the ceramic seal (push from behind) and the graphite seal (twist and pull). The new ceramic seal will seat fully and does /not/ need or require silicon caulk as some YouTube vids say - don't do it! The graphite seal needs some twisting and encouragement to seat fully. Wear gloves when working with these seals - grease contamination will ruin them in short order. Touch the seal surfaces with a finger and... so much for those seals.
Tearing my polaris pool sweep apart to see why it wasn’t pumping revealed that the impeller had sheered off the shaff, so I needed a new one. I decided that the seal should be replaced while I was at it, so I found it online at poolzoom and ordered it. It arrived promptly and did the job.
