I had a Polaris 280 that we were constantly having issues with and decided to try this one. We have only had it for two weeks, but so far it has been working great. It was getting stuck some against the stars but we followed the instructions and made adjustments to the climbing abilities and it doesn't get stuck anymore except for one spot.
After six years, I finally had mine overhauled. Up until now, I've only had to replace the bag a few times. The rebuild (gear box, wheel bearings, water valve, hose connection--almost everything but the hose, backup valve and housing) cost $385. A bargain vs being a new one.

Upgraded from the 260 and couldn’t be happier. Cover every inch of the pool, but doesn’t really go much on the stairs. Still, the pool is the cleanest it has been.
This is the worst pool cleaner I've ever had. The wide wheels cause it to get stuck on everything. It's stuck so much that it makes it worthless as a cleaner. Buy anything else.
We received our 3900 sport yesterday, and we are happy with the price and fast shipping. Installation was simple, basically just plug it in where the 380 was. It took a few hours to get the hoses the right length and get it all dialed in with the right wheel RPM. The cleaning aspect and movement is good or better than the 380. The bag has two compartments that open/close with a zipper. It's hard to get 5 stars in my bool so I'm only giving it 4 stars because it does what it is supposed to. I don't know how it will hold up yet. I will review again at the end of the summer.
I replaced my 11 yr old 180 sweep after having rebuilt it two years ago and these guys at zoom recommended the Polaris 3900 or the 280. I decided on the 3900 because after the rebate it was just a bit more than the 280. I have now had it operating for 60 days and I find it climbs very well, picks up everything and my pool floor has never looked cleaner. We have large oak leaves, I have been impressed how fast it will clean the piles. I have a booster pump which provides plenty of power for this unit.It climbs better than my previous unit, and the bag is definitely larger. I also like that the filter is on the hose and in plain site and easy to clean. I would recommend this cleaner.
Worked out if the box. Smooth running. Cleans pool in record time.
